Dr. Paula Varnado-Sullivan is a professor and department head of the Department of
Psychology. After serving as the graduate coordinator for 14 years, she became the department head in Fall 2022. In 2012, she was awarded the regional faculty advisor award for Psi Chi. She was the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching recipient for 2015. She specializes in clinical psychology and often teaches Psychopathology, Personality Psychology, and Professional Considerations in Psychology.
Dr. Varnado-Sullivan trained in clinical psychology with an emphasis on adult psychopathology.
She received her bachelors, masters and doctorate in psychology at Louisiana State University. She specializes in the research and treatment of eating disorders, obesity, mood and anxiety disorders. Her most recent research has focused on the stigma of psychological disorders.
