Dr. Pradip Panta is an Assistant Professor of Microbiology in the Department of Biological Sciences at Southeastern. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University and completed postdoctoral training at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, focusing on obesity and inflammation.
Area of Expertise
Dr. Panta’s research explores the molecular mechanisms of antimicrobial and bacteriophage resistance. With antimicrobial resistance now a leading global health threat, his lab investigates how genetic and environmental factors contribute to bacterial resistance, particularly the role of the DedA membrane protein. He teaches Introductory Biology, Medical Microbiology, Advanced Microbiology, and Pathogenic Bacteria.
