Dr. Robert F. Cope III is a Professor of Operations Management at Southeastern Louisiana University. He earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Louisiana State University in 1998 and holds Professional Electrical Engineering licenses in Texas (#77135) and Louisiana (#26038). He started at Southeastern in January of 1998, and has published over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles and played a pivotal role in Louisiana higher education by authoring and implementing the state’s first four-year degree program in Supply Chain Management at Southeastern Louisiana University (approved by the Board of Supervisors in March 2008 and the Board of Regents in August 2008).
His research has informed Louisiana’s Public Service Commission on electricity deregulation through LSU’s Center for Energy Studies. Dr. Cope’s industry experience includes positions as a Field Service Engineer with GE and an Underground Transmission and Distribution Zone Technical Engineer with Houston Lighting & Power Company. His research interests encompass Resource Optimization, Energy Modeling, Project Management, Statistical Modeling, and the design of Information Technology systems.
On a personal note, Dr. Cope was a trumpet player in LSU’s Golden Band from Tigerland and the Basketball Pep Band during his undergraduate years.
Dr. Cope’s expertise is in Operations Management, Operations Research, and Management Science, with applications in Energy, Supply Chain Management, and Logistics. He teaches lectures, case analyses, and computer applications that support Supply Chain Management and Logistics.
