Dr. Scottie B. Patton, DAT, MA, ATC Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies, Southeastern Louisiana University
Dr. Scottie B. Patton is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Southeastern Louisiana University, where he teaches in both the undergraduate Kinesiology program and the Master of Science in Athletic Training program. With over 30 years of experience in athletic training and sports medicine, Dr. Patton brings a wealth of clinical expertise and leadership to the classroom, mentoring future professionals in evidence-based practice, injury prevention, and performance optimization.
He holds a Doctorate in Athletic Training from Temple University and a Master’s in Human Performance from San Jose State University. His professional background includes extensive service with collegiate and professional sports organizations, including the New Orleans Saints (Head Athletic Trainer), Philadelphia Eagles (Assistant Athletic Trainer), San Francisco 49ers (Assistant Athletic Trainer), and leadership roles within the UFL and XFL. He has won NFL Superbowls with the New Orleans Saints (2009) and the San Francisco 49ers (1994). He has also served as Head Athletic Trainer and Associate Athletic Director of Sports Performance at Grambling State University, Southern University, and Xavier University of Louisiana.
Dr. Patton’s teaching and research interests include musculoskeletal ultrasound, manual therapy techniques, concussion management, and the integration of emerging technologies in athletic training. He is actively involved in professional service through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Louisiana Athletic Trainers’ Association, and Southeastern Athletic Trainers’ Association, and has received multiple honors for his contributions to the field.
In addition to his academic and clinical roles, Dr. Patton is committed to community engagement and student development, having established scholarships and mentorship initiatives that support diversity and access in sports medicine education.
