Dr. Spencer Dobbs is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology. He earned his Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Denver. His research examines rapid social judgments, such as how people extract information from groups after seeing or hearing them for only a fraction of a second. Additionally, his work explores how features of our social ecology, such as crowd density or physical proximity, shape the impressions we form of others.

Area of Expertise

Dr. Dobbs has training and expertise in social cognition and perception, with an emphasis on how people quickly make sense of social groups and their surroundings. He teaches General Psychology I, Research Design and Analysis, Cognitive Psychology, and Learning, Memory, and Cognition.
