Tara Bennett is an instructor in the Department of Communication and Media Studies at Southeastern Louisiana University, where she teaches courses in performance and content creation. She holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Communication and brings over a decade of experience in journalism, freelance web design, arts administration and community engagement.

Beyond the classroom, Tara is active in Louisiana’s arts and culture community. She serves as the artistic director of Hammond Horror Fest and is on the board for the Louisiana Shakespeare Company and the Friends of the Sims Library. She is also a theatre critic for BroadwayWorld.com. Previously, she served as media coordinator at the Hammond Regional Arts Center and the Arts & Entertainment editor for DIG Magazine.

Tara’s professional work emphasizes creativity, communication and cultural advocacy. She is passionate about equipping students with practical skills in media and presentation while also fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading and cozy gaming, playing D&D and watching horror movies.
