Concentration
Elevate your passion for history into a meaningful profession. With a concentration in cultural resource management/public history, you’ll gain a firm foundation in historical study combined with practical skills in preserving and presenting cultural heritage. Explore the crucial role of history in shaping and interpreting cultural identity, while being immersed in coursework focused on museum studies, archival management, and public history methodologies. You’ll graduate ready to jump into a career at cultural institutions and in historic preservation or public history.

- Faculty have won awards for excellence in teaching, research and service, produced a host of scholarly publications – many of which have attracted an international readership – and held important offices in professional organizations
- The department is closely affiliated with the Center for Southeast Louisiana Studies and the Florida Parishes Social Science Research Center
- The department sponsors a variety of lectures ranging from Black History month in February to Veteran's Day in November.
- The department hosts the Region VIII Social Studies Fair (March)
