Program Highlights
- Accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation / National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Council for Exceptional Children
- Certified teachers in Louisiana may add additional certifications to their teaching certificate such as Early Childhood, English as a Second Language, Gifted Education, Mild/Moderate (Grades1-5), Mild/Moderate (Grades 4-8 and Grades 6-12) and Reading Specialist; students completing add-on certifications may be eligible for a post-baccalaureate certificate
- The capstone action research project serves as a culminating experience inviting school and community participation
- Lekotek, a toy lending library with child and family support, offers pedagogical experiences for students and opportunities for collaboration with schools and community groups
