HAMMOND –Two Southeastern Louisiana University students received prestigious
accounting scholarships from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. Brandon
Richardson of Slidell and Courtney Daze of Napoleonville each received a $10,000 scholarship
from PCAOB.
“Positively impacting the lives of students is at the core of the mission of
the accounting program at Southeastern. Outstanding students like Courtney and Brandon
will now have the opportunity to spread the impact of the PCAOB scholarship by serving
their communities,” said Department Head of Accounting and Finance and Phil K. Livingston
Professor Robert Braun. “They are the kind of young people who will lead through their
example. The accounting faculty made excellent choices in nominating them, and we
are grateful that the PCAOB has chosen to support them in this way.”
According to Richardson, his life was positively impacted by the scholarship.
“Going into my senior year, my financial aid was dwindling to nothing. This scholarship
allowed me to spend more time to focus on my studying and not have to deal with the
financial burden,” said recent graduate Richardson. “This scholarship was the biggest
blessing, and I am totally appreciative of the opportunities it provides to young
aspiring accountants.”
Daze is thrilled to receive the scholarship and credits her family, friends and
professors with motivating her to give her best.
“It is truly an honor to have been chosen as a Public Company Accounting Oversight
Board Scholar. I am very fortunate to be able to represent Southeastern and the College
of Business,” said Daze, a senior. “I’m so appreciative of my family and friends who
push me to be the best version of myself each and every day. I am also grateful to
attend Southeastern, where I am presented with amazing opportunities and experiences.
I thank all of my professors who motivate me and continue to believe in me semester
after semester.”
The PCAOB establishes auditing and related professional practice standards for
registered public accounting firms to follow in the preparation and issuance of audit
reports.
