Southeastern LSBDC to host class for businesses on e-commerce

HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana
University will host a class in Slidell designed to help businesses understand and
grow e-commerce.
Co-sponsored by St. Tammany Corporation and the East and West St. Tammany Chambers
of Commerce, the class is scheduled Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Slidell
Municipal Auditorium, located at 2056 2nd St.
Titled “E-commerce: How to Increase Your Sales via Amazon and other Channels,”
the event will feature two experts who will speak about the importance of e-commerce
and help businesses get setup on the right channels to grow sales.
“As digital consumers increase, the need to have your products and services available
online is critical. If your retail, service based, or business-to-business wholesale
company plans to successfully compete in the marketplace, it is imperative you attend
this event,” said SBDC Director Bill Joubert. “National experts will be on hand to
give you the latest trends and information to help you start and grow your e-commerce
business. The class will be jam packed with information you can use immediately in
your business.”
U.S. Small Business Administration Regional Administrator Justin Crossie will
provide opening remarks. Crossie is a November 2018 appointee of President Donald
Trump and SBA Administrator Linda McMahon. Crossie leads the delivery of SBA’s funding
programs, counseling services and government contracting and export initiatives in
the South Central Region, which serves more than 3.8 million small businesses in Arkansas,
Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Guest speakers include Eric Kooymans, founder and president of Harnessing Strengths,
LLC, and Shannon Roddy, Amazon specialist and founder of Marketplace Seller Courses.
Kooymans has developed e-commerce websites, marketing campaigns and growth strategies
for over 140 companies. With over 15 years of experience in online marketing, he specializes
in e-commerce development, search engine optimization, paid search marketing, content
marketing, social marketing, lead generation, and more.
Roddy has consulted with over 85 clients, helping them set-up, optimize and launch
their Amazon storefronts and products, as well as successfully promote and protect
their brands on the Amazon Platform. His company has helped sellers obtain No. 1 New
Release for several products, as well as assist with multiple No. 1 Best Selling Products
on Amazon.com.
Topics to be covered include an overview of e-commerce; the importance of online
diversification; Amazon tips for increasing sales; how to start Shopify and WordPress
sites; account creation and brand registry on Amazon; and how to increase sales two
to three times with e-commerce funnels.
The cost to attend the course is $25 and includes lunch. Pre-registration is
required.
