HAMMOND – This semester the Southeastern Louisiana University Professional Sales Program has experienced success at the local, regional, and national levels, achieving new milestones.
Most recently sales team members Katelynn Brady of Walker, Hezekiah Chatelain of Madisonville, Kalynn Granier of Walker, and Victoria Hickey of Mandeville, coached by Tim Butler, competed at the National Collegiate Sales Competition hosted by Kennesaw State University.
Over 140 of the brightest sales minds from 72 university sales programs participated in the role-play competition. Granier was a quarterfinalist and finished Top 35 in the country. Hickey was a semifinalist and finished Top 16 in the country. Brady, Chatelain, and Caleb Peppers of Saint Amant competed in the Speed Sell Competition.
“As a team, Southeastern finished 12th overall, which set a school record for the very challenging competition, largely known as the National Championship of Sales,” said Professional Sales Team Coach April Kemp. “This marks the third straight year of both Top 15 performances and Sweet 16 appearances, a significant milestone for the sales team.”
Earlier in the semester, the sales team, including Brady, Chatelain, Granier, Hickey, and Ben Robicheaux, coached by April Kemp, Tim Butler, and Gabriel Pevey, competed in the Bayou Sales Challenge, the regional competition, hosted by Nicholls State University. Hickey and Chatelain made it to the semifinal round, putting them in the top 10 among all competitors.
Brady, Granier, and Hickey also participated in the Redbird National Sales Competition, hosted by Illinois State University. The three competitors competed against 135 top sales students and made the semifinal round. Southeastern’s team finished third out of 45 universities, another school-record performance, Kemp said.
At the beginning of the semester, Southeastern’s Professional Sales Program hosted its biannual Southeastern Sales Challenge. Representatives from Northwestern Mutual, United Rentals, Cintas, Fastenal, Sherwin-Williams, Louisiana CAT, Republic Finance, Farm Bureau, Black Diamond, TK Elevator, and other companies volunteered their time to assist in judging and playing the buyer roles for the competition.
