Southeastern Computer Science Department to present Industry Connect Lecture

COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT TO HOST INDUSTRY CONNECT LECTURE - Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Computer Science is hosting the first of the next installment of the spring Industry Connect Distinguished Lectures March 21, at 4 p.m. Tika Pahadi, a software engineer for Amazon, will present “Career Paths in Computer Science: Exploring Research, Industry, and Entrepreneurship.”
HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Computer Science
is hosting the next installment of the spring Industry Connect Distinguished Lectures
March 21, at 4 p.m. Scheduled in the Envoc Innovation Lab, located in room 2026 in
the Computer Science and Technology Building, the free lecture is titled “Career Paths
in Computer Science: Exploring Research, Industry, and Entrepreneurship.”
Tika Pahadi, a software engineer for Amazon, will serve as guest speaker. He
will discuss navigating the transition from Academia to Industry in Computer Science
and will share his journey in computer science, from a mere enthusiast to an entrepreneur.
Pahadi will also speak about his experience working in big-tech and the importance
of non-technical skills in tech careers. Lastly, he will discuss current trends in
technology, such as artificial intelligence and human computer interaction.
Pahadi has been with Amazon for five years working at the Global Payments Authentication
Division and Amazon Web Services (S3). Before Amazon, he worked with a few companies
in the Baton Rouge area, such as Fusionstak, Omindek, and Zoom Audits.
For the last two years, Pahadi has operated his own research firm “Pahadi Research”
on the side. The company does research on various disciplines, such as AI, Human Computer
Interaction (HCI) and UI/UX. He also provides bespoke cloud services and assists companies
in automating and improving their business workflow.
