Welcome to Southeastern’s Office of the Provost and the Division of Academic Affairs
Dr. Eric Skipper arrived at Southeastern in July 2025 after serving as provost at the University of South Carolina Beaufort since 2016. During Skipper’s tenure, USCB saw dramatic increases in student experiential learning, external partnerships, sponsored funding, student and faculty accolades, and institutional/ program rankings. Skipper’s writing has appeared in Inside Higher Ed, Times Higher Education, and University Business promoting the need for liberal arts education, experiential learning, and human connectivity in an increasingly digitized world. Publications on Hispanic literature and culture include the edited volume A Recipe for Discourse: Perspectives on Like Water for Chocolate (Rodopi 2010).
Skipper is honored to serve as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Southeastern Louisiana University. “We must empower our faculty and staff to generate bold ideas and pursue use-inspired research that addresses real-world challenges and drives positive change,” says Skipper. “Our students and our communities are counting on us. Universities have the capacity to change lives.”
Skipper holds a B.S. in Management from Georgia Tech and a Ph.D. in Spanish Literature from Florida State University.
