Campus Halloween Events

It's that time of year - Southeastern is getting spooky! Check out this fun list of Halloween-inspired events scheduled on campus this month:

CAB Movie Night: Hocus Pocus
Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 pm and Wednesday. Oct. 16 at 8 pm at Student Union Theatre

CAB Haunted Trail
Monday, October 21 and Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 7 - 10 pm
North Oak Park
Get ready to be spooked on a whole new level: outdoors and off campus. If you're feeling daring, take a walk down CAB's Haunted Trail! This is a two night event you don't want to miss. Admission is free for all students with a valid Southeastern ID.

CAB is now taking applications for volunteers for the Haunted House! Apply here. 

Want fast passes to the Haunted Trail? CAB is seeking donations of the following items: dolls/stuffed animals, old clothes, big pot or cauldron, plastic milk jugs and bottles, scary masks, old pots and pans, bassinet, tricycle, kids toys. Bring items to the CAB office at Student Union 2302 by Oct. 18.

Lecture: Horror in Literature, Film, and Creative Writing
Monday, Oct. 28 at 5:30 in the Writing Center (D Vickers Room 210)

Sigma Tau Delta invites you to join Tommy "Terror" Parrie and Sherri "Scary" Craig for a chilling discussion of horror in literature, film, and creative writing.

 

Then and Now Lecture: Hatfield, Holyrood, Hollywood, and Halloween: Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots Go to the Movies—Again
Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 1 pm at Pottle Auditorium 

The Head of the Department of History and Political Science faces his greatest historical and rhetorical challenge—relating filmic incarnations of Elizabeth Tudor and Mary Stuart to Halloween. Costumes are encouraged!

TRICKS - Get an early look at the 2019-20 SLU basketball teams! TREATS - The first 300 Southeastern students in attendance will receive free t-shirts, courtesy of Southeastern Athletics Student Marketing and Promotions. The event’s presenting sponsor, Olive Garden, will also provide free food for students.

 

Southeastern Dining Halloween Specials
Thursday, Oct. 31

Starbucks employees will be dressing as Monsters Inc. characters and hiding colorful cereal photos around campus dining locations. Find one and bring to Starbucks in the Student Union for a Starbucks gift card reward! Also, everyone in costume will receive $1 off your order on Halloween. Follow the @southeasterndining Instagram page to stay updated! 

 

Southeastern's Annual Fall Carnival
Thursday, Oct. 31 from 5-7 pm at the REC

Fall Carnival

This free event is meant to provide safe alternatives to traditional neighborhood door-to-door trick-or-treating. Although children of all ages are invited to the festivities, the event targets children in kindergarten through fourth grade and will include games with prizes, candy, spacewalks, a balloon artist, and more. Parents and guardians are asked to accompany their children throughout the event, which is sponsored by Multicultural and International Student Affairs, Black Student Union, the Office for Student Engagement, and Recreational Sports and Wellness.
