7 Ways to Succeed This Semester

Southeastern offers a variety of free resources to help students succeed in their academic efforts. From borrowing an iPad to getting help with an English paper, here are seven ways to make this semester the most successful one yet.

  1. Sims Memorial Library Equipment Rentals: Sims Memorial Library's Media Department recently added 10 iPads to its technology equipment rental program. Students can check out iPads for up to seven days for on- or off-campus use.

  2. Mathematics Technology Learning Center (MTLC): Located in Sims Memorial Library, the MTLC houses 200 computers and provides tutoring services, as well as on-site faculty to assist, during day and evening hours.

  3. The Writing Center: The Writing Center, located in D Vickers Hall, offers personal and online tutoring, writing workshops, computer assistance and more.

  4. Student Technology Center: At the Student Technology Center in Fayard Hall, students can borrow laptops, cameras, tablets, video cameras and other equipment to complete their projects. The center also offers technical support as well as Moodle, Gmail and LEONet training.

  5. University Counseling CenterAt the University Counseling Center, licensed mental health professionals provide counseling, support groups and therapeutic groups for issues common on a college campus.

  6. Center for Student ExcellenceThe Center for Student Excellence, located in Southeastern Hall, offers academic advising, career exploration services and tutoring.

  7. Career Services: For students seeking part-time employment or considering their future full-time career plans, Career Services provides career counseling, resume assistance, interview coaching and more. Careers Services is located in the Student Union.
