HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University and the Louisiana Healthcare Education Coalition are hosting a seminar to help with understanding the changes to the new health care laws.

The free seminar, "Navigating the Affordable Care Act," will take place in Hammond on Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at the Southeast Louisiana Business Center in Hammond, 1514 Martens Drive.

"The seminar," said Sandy Summers, assistant director of the Small Business Development Center, "will cover key small business provisions and the new Health Insurance Marketplace, which opened Oct. 1."

Summers said topics of discussion include key questions to ask, new rules for large employers, definition of affordable coverage, tax credits, potential rebates and premium reduction programs, taxes and penalties, grandfathering and current benefits to groups, and employee notification.

Since space is limited, only pre-registered individuals will be guaranteed seating. Registration is available at www.lsbdc.org.
