Southeastern announces 2015 Homecoming Court and Beau Court

1) 2015 SOUTHEASTERN HOMECOMING COURT – Seven Southeastern Louisiana University students have been chosen as members of
the 2015 Homecoming court and will reign over Homecoming festivities, Oct. 12-17.

HAMMOND – Fourteen Southeastern Louisiana University students have been chosen as
members of the 2015 Homecoming queen and beau courts. The seven women and seven men
will reign over Homecoming festivities Oct. 12- 17.
Chosen as members of the queen court were seniors Jamie Lynn Ban, New Orleans;
Allison Etzel, League City, Tex.; Si-Arah McCray, Baton Rouge; and Jasmine Wilson,
Franklinton; juniors Ashley Nelson, Loranger; and Randi St. Pierre, St. Amant; and
sophomore Christina Ferrando, Mandeville.
Members of the beau court are seniors DJ Cannon, Hammond; Tony Miller, Hammond;
Beau Moore, Houma; Tyrell Norman, Kentwood; and Reid Shorter, Covington; and sophomores
DeQuaz Humphries, Norco; and Davon Mitchell, New Orleans.
The 2015 queen and beau, the top junior or senior vote-getters in the recent
online campus election, will be announced at halftime of the Homecoming football game
when the Lions take on Stephen F. Austin on Homecoming Day, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. in
Strawberry Stadium.
The court also will participate in Homecoming festivities such as Gumbo YaYa
on Oct. 14, the bonfire and pep rally on Oct. 15, and the 3 p.m. Homecoming Day parade.
Ban, a kinesiology major, is a member of Phi Mu Fraternity, Southeastern’s Ducks
Unlimited, and the Rec Sports and Wellness Council. She is Sweetheart of Delta Tau
Delta Fraternity and served as the 2014 Panhellenic Delegate for Phi Mu. She has also
been named to the President’s and Dean’s Lists.
Etzel majors in elementary education, grades 1-5. She is a member of Alpha Omicron
Pi sorority, where she served as community service chairman and was named sweetheart
of the sorority. She is also a member of Gamma Beta Phi, SEAS, Kappa Delta Pi and
was named to the Kappa Alpha Rose Court. Etzel has been a member of the President’s
list, is listed as Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities and is a recipient of
the Green ‘S’ Award.
Ferrando, a marketing major, is a member of Theta Phi Alpha Sorority, Best Buddies
and is involved with the Wesley Foundation. She has been named to the Deans’s List,
is a recipient of the progression scholarship and was named Sapphire Sister for her
dedication to philanthropic and sisterhood events.
McCray, a family and consumer sciences major, is a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda
National Honors Society, Student United Way and Student Association of Family and
Consumer Sciences. She has been named to the President’s List.
Nelson, an accounting major, is a member of Phi Mu and Southeastern’s Ducks Unlimited.
She is also a member of New Sharon Baptist Church and works at a local law office
while maintaining her studies. She has been named to the President’s List.
St. Pierre is an elementary education major. She is a member of Alpha Omicron
Pi, where she recently served as Recruitment Chair. She has also served as President
of Southeastern Education Association for Students, is involved with Excellence in
Commitment to Education and Leadership (ExCel) and Order of Omega. She is the recipient
of the Green ‘S’ Award and an ExCel Scholarship.
Wilson is a social work major. She is a member of the National Society for Leadership
and Success, Best Buddies and the NASW Board. She is the Associate Chief Justice of
Student Government Association (SGA), is a St. Joseph’s Hospice volunteer, STAR Advocate
and CASA Volunteer. Wilson has served as a 2012 orientation leader, treasurer of the
Social Work Club, and has been named to the President’s List.
Cannon is a kinesolgy major. He is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha and the NAACP. He
is a founding father of Southeastern’s Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha and was selected
as a 2014 Southeastern Orientation Leader.
Humphries is a nursing major. He is a resident assistant, a 2015 Southeastern
Orientation Leader, and an SGA Senator, where he also serves as appropriations secretary.
He is a member of the Southeastern Sociological Association, where he served as secretary,
a member of the Hall Council and BCM, as well as a dining ambassador. He has also
been named to the President’s list.
Miller, an athletic training major, is a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and
the Southeastern Student Athletic Trainers’ Association. He was selected as a Southeastern
QEP Student Ambassador and 2015 Summer Athletic Training intern for the New Orleans
Saints.
Mitchell is a finance major. He is a member of Theta Chi Fraternity and is a 2015
Orientation Leader. He was also elected to the Interfraternal Council.
Moore, a kinesiology major, is Vice President of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He
is a committee member of Southeastern’s Ducks Unlimited chapter and is heavily involved
in intramural activities. Moore has also been named to the President’s List.
Norman is a general studies and kinesiology major. He is a member of the NAACP,
Southeastern Gospel Choir, Sports Management Association and Sigma Alpha Pi. He has
also been named to the President’s list.
Shorter, a management major, is a member of Kappa Alpha Order fraternity, where
he served as rush chairman, philanthropy chair and Intrafraternity Council delegate.
He is also a member of Ducks Unlimited, Gamma Beta Phi, and Up Til Dawn. He was also
named Alpha Omicron Pi’s Beau from 2014-15.
