Southeastern students inducted into Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society

HAMMOND – Nearly 50 students at Southeastern Louisiana University were recently
inducted into the university’s chapter of the prestigious national honor society,
Phi Kappa Phi.
Awards for outstanding junior students from Southeastern’s five academic colleges
were presented to: Catherine Urquhart, Metairie, College of Arts, Humanities and Social
Sciences; Nikisun Shrestha, Hammond, College of Business; Mallory Miller, Slidell,
College of Education; Allison Soileau, Baton Rouge, College of Nursing and Health
Sciences; and Christian Ennis, Mandeville, College of Science and Technology.
Recognized with the Outstanding Freshman Award was Courtney Daze of Napoleonville,
while Jessica Monsour of Slidell was cited as the Outstanding Honor Student. The society’s
Lou Ballard Endowed Scholarship was awarded to Binisha Karki, a resident of Hammond.
Faculty and staff inducted include Executive Director of Alumni Relations Michelle
Biggs, Director of Graduate Studies and Institutional Effectiveness John G. Boulahanis,
and Assistant Professor of Psychology Sara Sohr-Preston.
To be considered for membership in the organization, a student must be in the
top 10 percent of their senior or graduate class or a second semester junior in the
top 7.5 percent of his or her class.
