Southeastern SBDC offers seminar on intellectual capital

HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Small Business Development Center
is collaborating with the St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce and the Law Firm Carver
Darden in offering a seminar on intellectual capital titled “Protecting Your Company’s
Intellectual Property: What Every Business Needs to Know.” Scheduled Feb. 11, from
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the seminar will be held at the Northshore Technical Community
College STEM Campus, located at 65556 Centerpoint Blvd. in Lacombe.
Topics to be covered include the following: the definition of intellectual property,
general intellectual property law, patents, trademarks, copyright and trade secrets,
and how to use intellectual property to build and protect competitive advantage.
Speakers for the seminar are Emily Gummer and Todd Ower, attorneys at law with
Carver Darden.
Cost to attend the seminar is $5 for St. Tammany Chamber members and $10 for
non-members. Lunch is included and is sponsored by Metairie Bank Northshore.
