HAMMOND – The Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) at Southeastern
Louisiana University will hold a free seminar in Hammond March 19 designed to help
business with recruiting and hiring.
The seminar titled “Recruiting and Hiring: Finding the Right Person for the Right
Job” will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Southeast Louisiana Business Center,
room 208, located at 1514 Martens Dr.
“Talent acquisition is critical to the success of any business,” said SBDC Training
Coordinator Karen Romero. “This three-hour workshop will give you the tools to recruit
and reveal the top candidate for the job.”
Romero said attendees will learn how to develop knowledge, skill and abilities;
craft compelling job descriptions; effectively write and post job ads; market companies
through total compensation packages; and build structured interviews.
“Items and thoughts to bring to the seminar include a job description or a job
title and a few sentences or outline of a job you need to fill,” Romero said. “You
can also bring a list of all benefits. This could include medical benefits, dental
benefits, employee assistance program, disability, wellness plans, free lunches, membership
dues, 401 (K), vacation, paid time off, bonuses, and discounts. Bring your laptop
or tablet if you like, but it is not necessary.”
Guest speaker for the workshop is Gretta Brinson of HR Works, LLC, Your Human
Resource Company.
Although the seminar is free, pre-registration is required due to limited seating.
