The Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association is seeking energetic, action-oriented volunteers to serve on the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Executive Director of Alumni Relations Michelle Biggs said board members commit their time and expertise to fulfill the association’s mission of strengthening ties between the university, alumni and community.
“The board is comprised of a wide range of individuals who represent the entire alumni base. Each member serves a two-year term, and their job is to assist in promoting the mission of the Alumni Association in tandem with that of Southeastern,” said Biggs. “They promote pride, help in student recruitment efforts, act as mentors, preserve traditions of the university and encourage active membership in the association.”
Biggs said in order to be eligible to serve on the board, individuals must be dues paying members of the Southeastern Alumni Association and in good standing; demonstrate involvement, support and commitment to Southeastern; possess the ability and willingness to give time and resources to support the association; possess the ability to effectively collaborate in a team environment; have effective verbal and written communication skills; and have a personal interest in Southeastern, its students, alumni and the community.
Alumni Association Board nomination packets are due to the Alumni Center by March 2. Packets consist of a completed nomination form; a copy of the nominee’s resume, CV, LinkedIn profile, or similar professional summary; and optional letters of support from individuals other than the nominator. Nomination forms are available at southeastern.edu/alumniboard.
Self-nominations are also acceptable, Biggs said.
For more information, contact the Alumni Association at 985-549-2150.
