HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association is seeking energetic, action-oriented volunteers to fill four director positions on the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Executive Director of Alumni Relations Michelle Biggs said board members commit their time and expertise to fulfill the association’s mission of strengthening ties between the university, alumni and community.
“The board is comprised of a wide range of individuals who represent the entire alumni base. Each member serves a two-year term, and their job is to assist in promoting the mission of the Alumni Association in tandem with that of Southeastern,” said Biggs. “They promote pride, help in student recruitment efforts, act as mentors, preserve traditions of the university and encourage active participation in the association.”
Biggs said in order to be eligible to serve on the board as a director, individuals must be a graduate of Southeastern, serve on a volunteer basis for a two-year term, attend quarterly board meetings in Hammond; serve on a committee; have a history of involvement, support, and commitment to Southeastern; and possess demonstrated accomplishments in either a chosen professional career and/or through community service.
The nominating committee will also take into consideration an individual’s potential for representing the association’s various constituencies, their college major(s), and their geographic location.
For more information about the Southeastern Alumni Association Board of Directors’ expectations and to download the nomination form, visit southeastern.edu/alumniboard.
