Assistant Professor of Social Work Dr. Angela Wood’s new book, The Motivational Interviewing Workbook: Exercises to Decide What You Want and How to Get There, was released this past fall—and it couldn’t be more timely.
Between COVID-19, the economic downtown, natural disasters, and other world events over this past year, it’s hard to imagine anyone who hasn’t felt some emotional toll. And when feeling a bit down, it can become even easier to get stuck in a rut. This self-help book seeks to motivate readers and, in particular, anyone who is struggling to make a life-style change.
Wood, who is one of two members of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers in Louisiana in addition to being a faculty member at Southeastern, uses concepts from motivational interviewing and a plentiful amount of exercises to guide readers through the change process. Along with mainstream audiences, this book can also be useful for health coaches and behavioral health providers in practice.
