Southeastern College of Education honors top students

Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Education students were celebrated recently at the college’s annual spring honors convocation.

 HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Education students were celebrated recently at the college’s annual spring honors convocation.
     The college announced the recipients of departmental honors and included the following:
ABITA SPRINGS – Alexa Yates, Outstanding Graduate in English Education and Resident Student Teacher of the Year.

BATON ROUGE – Leslie Phillips, Future Educator Honor Roll.

GONZALES – Elizabeth Austin, Outstanding Graduate in Middle School Education and finalist for Resident Student Teacher of the Year.

HAMMOND – Ashlyn Harris, Outstanding Graduate in Elementary Education PK – 3; and Lily Navarra, Future Educator Honor Roll and Outstanding Service Award.

HOLDEN – Kaylee Hughes, Outstanding Graduate in Health and Physical Education.

KENTWOOD – Lauren Gehringer, Outstanding Graduate in Special Education and finalist for Resident Student Teacher of the Year.

MANDEVILLE – Madeleine Abadie, Outstanding Graduate in Elementary Education, 1-5 and finalist for Resident Student Teacher of the Year.

PONCHATOULA – Cher Siebenkittel, Outstanding Graduate in Math Education; Emily Guagliardo, Outstanding Graduate in Music Education; and Athena Weinberger, finalist for Resident Student Teacher of the Year.

PRAIRIEVILLE – Nicole Redmond, Roman Heleniak Award for Social Studies Education.

WATSON – Jennifer Calloway, Outstanding Graduate in Art Education.

CUTLINES
1) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HONORS (ASCENSION) – Elizabeth Austin of Gonzales, left, and Nicole Redmond of Prairieville were recognized at Southeastern Louisiana University College of Education’s annual honors convocation May 5. Austin was recognized as Outstanding Graduate in Middle School Education and as a finalist for Resident Student Teacher of the Year, and Redmond was recognized with the Roman Heleniak Award for Social Studies Education.

2) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HONORS (EAST BATON ROUGE) – Leslie Phillips of Baton Rouge, right, was recognized at Southeastern Louisiana University College of Education’s annual honors convocation May 5. Phillips was named to the Future Educator Honor Roll. With her is Paula Summers Calderon, dean of the College of Education.

3) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HONORS (LIVINGSTON) – Jennifer Calloway of Watson was recognized at Southeastern Louisiana University College of Education’s annual honors convocation May 5. Calloway was named Outstanding Graduate in Art Education.

4) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HONORS (ST. TAMMANY) – Alexa Yates of Abita Springs, left, and Madeleine Abadie of Mandeville were recognized at Southeastern Louisiana University College of Education’s annual honors convocation May 5. Yates was named Outstanding Graduate in English Education and Resident Student Teacher of the Year, while Abadie was named Outstanding Graduate in Elementary Education, 1-5 and was a finalist for Resident Student Teacher of the Year.

5) SOUTHEASTERN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HONORS (TANGIPAHOA) – Students honored recently at Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Education’s honor convocation were, from left, Lauren Gehringer of Kentwood, Ashlyn Harris and Lily Navarra of Hammond, and Emily Guagliardo, Cher Siebenkittel and Athena Weinberger of Ponchatoula. Gehringer was named Outstanding Graduate in Special Education and was a finalist for Resident Student Teacher of the Year, Harris was named Outstanding Graduate in Elementary Education PK – 3, Navarra was named to the Future Educator Honor Roll and received the Outstanding Service Award, Guagliardo was named Outstanding Graduate in Music Education, Siebenkittel was named Outstanding Graduate in Math Education, and Weinberger was a finalist for Resident Student Teacher of the Year.
