Originally opened in 1994, the building will be reopened by this September as a modern space that better reflects Southeastern’s brand identity and serves Alumni programming. It will also act as a welcome center, the “front door to the University.”
The over $1 million series of changes, funded through donations and grants made to the Southeastern Foundation, include exterior updates, a renovated ballroom and meeting space, the addition of an outdoor kitchen and entertaining area, and much more. What was previously storage space on the building’s second floor is also being converted into additional offices. Along with administrative offices for the Alumni Association, the building will house the Office of University Marketing and Communications, bringing together two departments in University Advancement under one roof.
“We’re excited that the new Alumni Center will serve as a centerpiece for alumni engagement activities, as well as
become a welcoming space for our students to begin thinking about their journey to become future alumni,” said Executive Director of Alumni Relations Michelle Biggs. “The state-of-the-art events space will be a hub of campus activity, allowing our Southeastern Family a place on campus to gather, and also serving as a dynamic venue to host community celebrations and meetings.”
While construction is underway, Alumni Association offices will be temporarily located in rooms 28-131 of White Hall, 300 W. Dakota St, Hammond, LA 70401.
