HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies is hosting a professional development day for students on Nov. 1 in the Student Union Ballroom on Southeastern’s campus. Titled “ASK KHS,” the symposium will begin at 9:30 a.m. and is open to all current students, alumni, faculty and staff.
“ASK KHS is a day-long event that features presentations by professionals who work in careers associated with our degree programs, as well as an internship fair,” said Kinesiology and Health Studies Department Head Charity Bryan. “Sessions cover a variety of topics in health sciences, sports medicine, fitness, sport management, athletic training and physical education training and coaching.”
Athletic Director Emeritus Joan Cronan from the University of Tennessee is the keynote speaker for the symposium. She will present “You, Too Can Win a National Championship,” at 9:30 a.m. in the Student Union Theater. Cronan grew up in Opelousas and is a legend in athletics across the country. She was just named a Title IX Trailblazer for the SEC earlier this year.
Following Cronan’s presentation, breakout sessions are scheduled in the Student Union Ballroom at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2 p.m., starting with former LSU Gymnastics Coach D-D Breaux.
Kinesiology Professor and ASK KHS founder Eddie Hebert said participants in the symposium can catch up with old friends and network with professionals attending the internship fair.
“There is no registration process or fee, just come to the Southeastern Student Union and join us for a great day of speakers and presentations,” he said.
