Southeastern Louisiana University will hold its annual Giving Day on Wednesday, Sept. 18. The first official event of Southeastern’s Centennial celebration, Giving Day is designed to encourage alumni, friends, students, supporters and community members to join together to support the university in a 24-hour online effort.
“This is a day when we ask all of our Southeastern family to pitch in and donate to help Southeastern build on its legacy of excellence,” said Vice President for University Advancement Wendy Lauderdale. “Past years’ funds have been used across campus for projects ranging from classroom technology to student programming and from student research projects to scholarships. We hope this year will be even better.”
“We also ask for a little help in spreading the word,” she said. “We’re asking our supporters to reach out to our friends who also know the importance of Southeastern but who may not be involved. Encourage them to participate by donating as well. Let’s come together to celebrate a century of Lion pride!”
Assistant Director of Donor Engagement, Jennifer Beckner said any donation is beneficial and will make a difference in the lives of students, whether it’s $10 or $10,000.
“From scholarships to program enhancements, every donation makes a big impact on the lives of Southeastern students,” she said. “This event symbolizes more than just financial support—it’s about coming together to celebrate 100 years of Lion pride while preparing for another century of success.”
Donations are tax deductible and can be made at any time, but are encouraged between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 18.
