The Southeastern Louisiana University Contemporary Art Gallery presents its fall Senior Exhibition 2024. Featuring artworks created by graduating students in the Department of Visual Art + Design, the exhibition will remain on display through Dec. 13.
Gallery Director Cristina Molina said the Senior Student Exhibition is the most anticipated event of the year and that the exhibition celebrates the talent, creativity, and hard work of Art + Design students who will graduate in December. Multiple ranges of artistic media, including painting, ceramics, sculpture, new media animation, graphic design, and theatre design are represented in the show. Each artwork reflects the artistic perspectives, interests, and skills of the graduating students, she said.
“The exhibition gives the senior students a chance to show off their creations in a professional gallery setting and showcase their talent for the benefit of the local community, faculty, family, friends, and art enthusiasts,” Molina said. “It also serves as a platform for students to engage with the public, create contacts, extend their resume and receive feedback on their artwork.”
Students exhibiting artwork include the following: Kiara Barbin and Mark Brown of Baker, Kayla Barclay, Brooke Seifert and Abigail White of Slidell, Lucy Bateman of Franklinton, Kaitlyn Buonagura of Marrero, Raena Disney of St. Amant, Emily Dubos of Metairie, Nox Grimmtalon of Tickfaw, Jasmine Hall of LaPlace, Silvana Hohl of Madisonville, Lauren Matherne and Jonah Morgan of Denham Springs, Savannah Phillips of Ponchatoula, and Hayden West and Chellyn Williams of Baton Rouge.
The gallery is located in East Strawberry Stadium on campus at 411 Ned McGehee Dr. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
