As Southeastern Louisiana University celebrates its Centennial year, the Office of Graduate Studies is celebrating its 65th anniversary with a Birthday Bash commemorating the start of graduate programs at Southeastern. Sponsored by the Student Government Association, the event is Monday, Nov. 10, and is free and open to the public.

Scheduled at 4 p.m., in the Student Union Theater, the fun will kick off with special celebratory remarks and a Student Showcase. The showcase will include “lightning-rounds,” 3-minute research presentations highlighting the work being done across all Southeastern’s colleges.

Attendees will enjoy a big birthday cake and more as Graduate Studies celebrates 65 years of graduate research and excellence.

According to Director of Graduate Studies John Boulahanis, “In over six decades of graduate education, Southeastern has granted more than 14,500 graduate degrees. Please join us to celebrate this historic milestone.”

A special commemorative plaque will be placed in Tinsley Hall, room 102, marking the place where the first meeting to create the program of graduate studies was held.
