University life can be very stressful for a variety of reasons. Competition and pressure to meet expectations of success may leave our students feeling unprepared for the emotional turmoil of higher education. Some students cope well, while others find that the pressures of university life interfere with their learning.
It is important to know that many students first seek guidance from those most available to them – faculty and/or staff members.
Southeastern is committed to our students’ academic success and to providing the necessary resources to enhance the potential for their success. The Lion Intervention Network (LINK) is another way we can do just that – help students succeed. Developed to identify students who are facing academic challenges and/or personal hardship (i.e. financial, homelessness/displacement, loss of loved one, car accidents, non-life threatening behaviors, etc.) that are hindering their academics. LINK is intended for non emergency situations. LINK can connect students with any extra help they might need along their educational paths to success.
With your help, students can receive assistance with resources such as academic advising, personal counseling services, workshops, and campus involvement. To report click the “Report” tab above or visit southeastern.edu/link.
* If you feel the situation is an emergency or that it is urgent enough to require immediate attention, please do the following: identify yourself as faculty or staff, tell the receptionist that the student needs to be seen immediately, give the receptionist the student’s name. You may also ask to speak with a counselor.
