Dr. Murray Paton “Pat” Pendarvis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Southeastern Louisiana University. He teaches a range of courses, including General Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, History of Biology, Evolutionary Biology, Genetics, and Biophotography. He earned his Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of Southern Mississippi and both his M.S. in Zoology and B.S. in Biology Education from Southeastern Louisiana University.
Before joining the university, Dr. Pendarvis taught science and served as a principal in Livingston Parish public schools. His research focuses on evolutionary education, science process skills, azalea hybridiza-tion, and fossil studies in the Tunica Hills. He has presented at various professional conferences and is also a published biophotographer. In addition to his academic work, he has authored several biology text-books.
A former U.S. Army officer, Dr. Pendarvis is committed to excellence in science education and service at both local and national levels.
