Dr. Volker Stiller is an associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences. He received his Ph.D. in 1997 from the University of Bayreuth, Germany. His research focuses on plant physiology, particularly xylem anatomy, plant water transport, and xylem dysfunction. Before joining the faculty at Southeastern, he worked as a research assistant at the University of Utah and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in the Philippines. Among the courses he regularly teaches are Introduction to Biology for Honors Students, Cell Biology, Plant Anatomy, and Plant Physiology.
In addition to his teaching and research endeavors, Dr. Stiller serves as the Chair of Southeastern’s Medical Evaluation Committee and pre-medical and pre-dental advisor.
