Dr. Srijana Ghimire is an instructor of chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Physics. She is one of the coordinators for dual enrolment chemistry. She earned her Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Purdue University, Indiana, where she conducted her doctoral research under the guidance of Professor David R. McMillin. Her dissertation focused on the synthesis and DNA-binding properties of novel porphyrin frameworks, exploring their potential in biomolecular interactions. Dr. Ghimire worked as a research associate at The Scripps Research Institute in San Diego, California, in the laboratory of Professor Dale L. Boger, where she expanded her experience in the design and synthesis of medically important small molecules.
In her teaching, she strives to make chemistry accessible, engaging, and inspiring, always connecting the subject to everyday life so students can see its relevance beyond the classroom.
As a Dual Enrollment (DE) coordinator, she travels to different high schools to meet with students and teachers, to provide them a clear understanding of the CHEM DE program.
Teaching: General Chemistry (labs and lectures), General, Inorganic, and Biochemistry (GOB lecture)
Survey of Organic Chemistry (lecture), and Inorganic Chemistry (lab)
