Dr. Alexandra D. Tomchek is an Academic Advisor and Instructor in the College of Honors and Excellence at Southeastern Louisiana University, where she teaches first-year success courses and advises incoming students. She also serves as an adjunct instructor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies.
She earned her Ph.D. in Health Sciences from Faulkner University, with research examining the impact of collegiate women’s basketball on student health and development. She also holds both a master’s degree in Health and Kinesiology and a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from Southeastern Louisiana University.
Dr. Tomchek’s research focuses on student-athlete health, student success, and health promotion, with her work published in Health Promotion Practice Journal and presented at national conferences. She is active in university service through committees such as the FYS Kickoff Conference and Social Media Committee, where she serves as chair. Beyond the university, she continues her passion for athletics as an assistant girls’ basketball coach at Archbishop Hannan High School.
