Southeastern Louisiana University will host former Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne as he narrates a story-telling adventure and presents an LPB documentary titled “Why Louisiana Ain’t Mississippi… or Any Place Else!”. Presented by the Universities of Louisiana Management and Leadership Institute, the presentation is scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 14, in the Student Union Theatre, at 1 p.m.
“The cultural gumbo that makes Louisiana Unique is not a delicacy recently created in a Creole kitchen,” Dardenne said. “The recipe was developed and seasoned long before statehood and the Louisiana Purchase and has simmered for the past two centuries.”
Dardenne has created a lively, funny and entertaining presentation about why Louisiana differs from every other state in America. It provides a look at Louisiana’s geography, demography, history, culture, characters and politics. The presentation includes a whirlwind tour of every parish, laced with fact, lore, trivia and music that illustrates why Louisiana is a jewel, not just to those that live here, but to the entire world.
Join Dardenne and explore all the ways that Louisiana is just a little bit different than anywhere else, and more importantly, learn why.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
