Dr. Scott Burns will present “Tariffs and Trade Wars: the Seen and the Unseen” on Monday, November 10th, at 8:30 AM in the Student Union Ballroom.

Dr. Scott BurnsScott Burns is the Charles Blackwell associate professor of economics at Southeastern Louisiana University. He was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from LSU in 2012 and his M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, in 2015 and 2017, respectively. Before joining the faculty at Southeastern in 2020, he worked as an assistant professor at Ursinus College in Pennsylvania (2017-2019) and Troy University in Alabama (2019-2020).

Dr. Burns has been published in more than a dozen peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Regulatory Economics, Journal of Institutional Economics, Economic Affairs, and Constitutional Political Economy. He has also published dozens of editorials in national outlets such as The Wall Street JournalThe Hill, and RealClear Markets. He has also been a guest on numerous television and radio shows and podcasts. His research interests include monetary economics, international trade, sports economics, and entrepreneurship.
