Housed within the Department of Music and Performing Arts, Dance Performance Project
is the department’s professional contemporary dance company dedicated to artistic
expression, choreography, and performance. Dance Performance Project showcases creative
and entertaining dance projects within all levels of dance training and from all styles
of dance and InterARTS™ for Southeastern Louisiana University, the community, and
beyond. Dance Performance Project members are currently enrolled Southeastern Louisiana
University students who are General Studies-Dance Concentration majors, Dance Minors,
or students passionately pursuing their love of dance at any level of experience.
Dance Performance Project presents 1-2 MAINSTAGE productions each semester, Fall and
Spring.

Requirements for Dance Performance Project (AUDITION required)

Membership is open to any student currently enrolled in dance courses at Southeastern
Louisiana University at all levels of experience. Auditions are held in the Fall and
Spring semesters, and all students interested in performing must attend an audition.
If selected at auditions, the student must enroll in two 1-hour courses: Dance Performance
Project and a Dance Technique class during the semester in which the student will
be a company member.
All company members must maintain a 2.5 GPA.

Dance Performance Project-Improv and
Dance Performance Project-Worship
Dance Performance Project-Improv is our resident dance company devoted to movement improvisation as a performing art
form and Dance Performance Project-Worship is our resident dance company devoted to faith and healing arts as a performing art
form. Auditions are not required but dance students are required to attend our general
dancer auditions for placement. Each company will perform once a year in our MAINSTAGE.
 Company members must register for DNC 300 for 1 credit hour.
