The Operations Division of the Southeastern Louisiana University Police Department is responsible for Community Education and Engagement, Event Planning and Police Investigations.
The UPD Technology Manger is responsible for overseeing all technology related equipment and functions of the University Police Department.
The University Police Department offers a wide range of community education and engagement events. UPD offers classes in RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) self defense, stalking and sexual assault awareness and prevention, and alcohol and drug awareness and prevention, to name a few. If you or your organization would like to request a guest speaker or training, please contact UPD for scheduling.
The University Police Department’s Investigations Division is responsible for criminal and administrative investigations involving the Southeastern Community. Police Investigators assigned to this division are on-call 24 hours and respond to all major crime scenes and any other investigations to which they are assigned.
Police Investigators dress in civilian clothing unless their assignment dictates otherwise. They work with our Uniform Patrol Division and other police agencies, sharing relevant information and providing assistance for the benefit of the University and surrounding community.

The University Police Department’s Training Division is responsible for coordination of our police officer field training program and police officer continuing education trainings. All peace officers, as defined in R.S.40:2402, shall complete a basic training course as prescribed and certified by the Council on Peace Officers Standards within one year of employment as a peace officer. All Southeastern Police Officers are required to complete this requirement, as well as complete no less than 20 hours of continuing education training each calendar year. Southeastern Louisiana University maintains two satellite locations: the Baton Rouge Nursing Center, located in Baton Rouge, and the Livingston Literacy and Technology Center, located in Walker. UPD has officers assigned to both locations when these facilities are in use.
