Department of Health and Human Sciences

Charles W. Campbell Memorial Scholarship in Communication Sciences and Disorders

  • $100/Spring Semester
  • Awarded to the most outstanding junior in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • 3.0 or better GPA
  • Good relationship with his peer group and the University
  • Awarded in the Spring Semester

Max Clardy Scholarship

  • $300/Semester
  • Must be graduate student in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA
  • Must be classified as full-time (9 credit hours)
  • Must be of good moral character

Fritz "Tootsie" Darouse Endowed Scholarship

  • $212.50/Semester
  • Based on Financial need
  • Must be a undergraduate major in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Enrolled in 12 hours of credit courses or a graduate student enrolled for 9 hours of credit
  • Must be of good moral character
  • May keep this scholarship for 8 semesters provided he/she meets all of the above criteria and maintains a 2.5 GPA

 Robert E LaRue Endowed Scholarship 

  • $234/Semester
  • Based on Financial need
  • Overall college GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • The student may be a female or male student majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • The student must be of good moral character
  • The student must be a full-time student
  • The student may keep this scholarship for 8 semesters provided he/she meets all the criteria and maintains a 2.5 overall GPA

 Scottish Rite Foundation Scholarship

  • $1,250/Fall and Spring & $500/Summer
  • Based on Financial need
  • Graduate student preferred
  • Undergraduate student must have a 2.5 GPA/Graduate student must have a 3.0 GPA
  • Must be completing their clinical assignments at the campus facility
  • Must be of good moral character
  • May keep this scholarship for a maximum of 3 semesters, provided he or she meets all of the above criteria

The Trapp Family Endowed Scholarship 

  • Amount awarded is based on financial need
  • Overall college grade point average of 2.50 or higher
  • Majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Student must be of good moral character
  • Enrolled in 12 hours of credit courses or a graduate student enrolled for 9 hours of credit
  • Student may keep this scholarship for eight semesters provided he or she meets all the above criteria and maintains a 2.5 overall GPA

Arthur and Esther deVries Scholarship

  • $569.50/Semester
  • Available to an undergraduate or graduate student
  • At least a junior and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Graduate student must be full-time and have a minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • Must demonstrate interest and experience in studying the special needs of the aging and the aged
  • Provide current transcript
  • Submit 2 letters of recommendation
  • Submit a brief written narrative
  • Must re-apply each semester

  • $383/Semester
  • Must be a full-time student
  • Must have junior or senior standing
  • Must be majoring in Kinesiology or Health Studies
  • Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher and a major GPA of 3.00 or higher
  • Must submit 3 letters of recommendation
  • Must submit a brief written essay
  • Must submit a current transcript
  • Must re-apply each semester

  • $619/Semester
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must be a full-time student
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Must be majoring in Kinesiology or Health Studies

  • $500/Semester
  • Must be a resident of Tangipahoa Parish
  • Must be of Junior or Senior Standing
  • Must be majoring in Nursing
  • Must have a high academic average
  • Must have financial need

Harry Applin Memorial Scholarship 

  • $500/Semester
  • Must have financial need
  • Must be of Junior or Senior Standing
  • Must be majoring in Nursing

Emile and Frances D'Anna Memorial

  • $200/Semester
  • Must be a junior or senior majoring in Nursing
  • Must have a 2.5 GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must be of good moral character
  • Preference will be given to a student from Tangipahoa Parish
  • Maximum of 4 semesters if 2.5 GPA is maintained

Dora Sue Blackwell Shettles Daussat Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • $200/Semester
  • Must be accepted into the clinical component of the School of Nursing
  • Must be of good moral character
  • Priority will be given to a single parent with financial need
  • Scholarship may be awarded annually to selected recipient

Myra C. Gautreaux Memorial Scholarship

  • $320/Semester
  • May apply by writing a letter to the School of Nursing Scholarship Committee explaining how they meet the following criteria
  • Must be a resident of West St. Tammany Parish
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12 hours or above)
  • Junior level or higher clinical courses
  • At least a 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Need copy of parent's income tax return
  • Can retain scholarship as long as guidelines are met

  • $300/Semester

Gulf States Health Services Endowed Scholarship

  • $333/Semester
  • Must be a Nursing Major
  • Must have Junior standing. Scholarship will be awarded for Fall and Spring of Senior year.
  • Must be a Louisiana resident
  • Must be active in extracurricular activities and have demonstrated leadership through participation in campus organizations
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Apply

Mary Bridges Magee Scholarship

  • $204.50/Semester
  • Must be a minister's wife, or an individual with children, and/or LPN returning for a BSN degree
  • Must be a pre-Nursing student
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • May be a ADN or LPN returning for BSN degree
  • Must have sophomore or greater status
  • To retain scholarship, must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0; yearly review by committee

Beverly L. Manzella Scholarship

  • $162.50/Semester
  • Minimum college GPA of 3.0
  • Full-time student
  • Nursing major
  • Must be of good moral character
  • Must be resident of Louisiana
  • Must demonstrate financial need

Medical Staff of North Oaks Nursing Scholarship

  • Must have a minimum of 30 hours of prerequisite coursework at Southeastern.
  • Must be a nursing major.
  • Must be accepted into clinical nursing courses.
  • Must earn a minimum of 2.5 GPA in all nursing courses to maintain scholarship.
  • Primary preference is for a Tangipahoa Parish high school graduate. Second preference is for a St. Helena Parish high school graduate.

Randy and Barbara Moffett Endowed Scholarship

  • $200/Semester
  • Must have a minimum of 30 hours pre-requisite coursework at Southeastern
  • Must be accepted into clinical nursing courses
  • Must earn a minimum of a C in all nursing courses to maintain the scholarship
  • May be male or female majoring in Nursing
  • Apply

Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students

  • Must have applied for financial aid as a dependent student and have a strong financial need
  • Must be enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program in Nursing and come from a disadvantaged background
  • The amount of the award is dependent on availability of funds and number of qualified recipients

Lisa Sharp In/Out Scholarship

  • $300/Semester
  • Must be a full time-time nursing student aged 30 and older
  • Available both fall and spring semesters, and in the summer semester(s) if the student is enrolled in 9+ hours
  • Must have a minimum of 30 credit hours to apply, and must be accepted into the clinical semesters of the nursing program
  • Provided student remains eligible for the nursing program, GPA will not be a consideration for selection
  • Preference will be given to a student in financial need of tuition assistance
  • This award may be given to a student in the LPN to RN program

Sharon Ann Gabriel Scholarship in Nursing

  • $162.50/Semester
  • Must be a Nursing major
  • Accepted to the clinical component of the nursing program
  • Must have earned a minimum of 30 hours of prerequisite coursework at Southeastern
  • Must earn a minimum GPA of 2.5 in all nursing courses to maintain scholarship
  • Must have a minimum overall college GPA of 3.0

Tangipahoa Parish Medical Auxiliary Scholarship

  • $350/Semester
  • Must apply by letter to School of Nursing Scholarship Committee
  • Must have academic achievement
  • Successful completion of sophomore level Nursing courses
  • Preference to Hammond area residents

The Viola Guthrie Brown Swift Memorial Endowed Scholarship

  • $162.50/Semester
  • Must have a minimum, of 30 hours of prerequisite coursework at Southeastern
  • Must be accepted into clinical nursing courses
  • Must earn a minimum of 2.5 GPA in all nursing courses.

Dean Ellienne Tate Endowed Scholarship

  • $237/Semester
  • Nursing major
  • Accepted to the Clinical Component of the Nursing Program
  • Full-time Student
  • Must have a 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA / 3.0 cumulative GPA in Nursing coursework
  • This Scholarship may be retained as long as the above criteria are met each semester

  • Must be a Nursing major with minimum GPA of 2.5

  • $200/Semester
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must have a 2.5 GPA
  • Must demonstrate involvement in school/community affairs
  • Must submit 2 letters of recommendation
  • Must be full-time (12 Hours)
  • To retain, must continue to meet above criteria

Sadie Pugh Mashburn Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

  • $208/Semester
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Demonstrate high moral character and behavior
  • Demonstrate ambition and desire to complete Nursing Program
  • Must maintain good attitude, appearance, and attendance record
  • Achieved junior status in the Nursing Program
  • Accepted to the Clinical Component of the Nursing Program
  • Must have a minimum overall college GPA of 3.2

Mary C. Allen Scholarship in Nursing

  • $506/Semester
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Achieved Junior-level status in the Nursing Program
  • Must be a Nursing major
  • Must have a desire to complete the Nursing Program
  • Must have good attitude, personal appearance, and attendance record
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA

Nina Erichson Haddad Scholarship in Nursing

  • $489.50/Semester
  • Must be a Nursing major who has been selected into the clinical portion of the Nursing Program
  • Must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.5
  • Must demonstrate financial need

Lilburn "Lee" Jones Scholarship in Nursing

  • $500/Semester
  • Must have a minimum of 30 hours of pre-requisite coursework at Southeastern and be accepted into clinical Nursing courses
  • Must demonstrate financial need, and student should not be over-funded with multiple scholarships
  • Must desire to complete the Nursing program

  Joseph Thomas Gill and Odile Chustz Gill Endowed Scholarship in Nursing 

  • $1183/Semester
  • Must be enrolled full-time
  • Must have an overall college GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Must be a Nursing major
  • Must be accepted into clinical nursing courses
  • Must demonstrate financial need

Monica Nijoka Scholarship in Nursing

  • $168/Semester
  • Must have a minimum of 30 hours of pre-requisite coursework at Southeastern
  • Must be a Nursing major
  • Must be accepted into clinical Nursing courses
  • Must demonstrate financial need (This award must be critical to the recipient's ability to attend Southeastern)

Andrew Bolden Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

  • $344/Semester
  • Must have a minimum o 30 hours of pre-requisite coursework at Southeastern to be accepted into clinical nursing courses
  • Must earn a minimum GPA of 2.5 in all nursing courses 
  • May be male or female majoring in Nursing
  • Must be enrolled full-time with preference given to a non-traditional student (25 years of age or older)
