Transfer Academic Advising

Congratulations!

Once you have been accepted to Southeastern, your next step is to meet with an academic advisor in the Transfer Student Success Center or your academic department to review your transfer credits and determine which courses are needed during your first semester. The goal of advising is to ensure that you are progressing toward graduation and are equipped with the tools needed to be successful during your time at Southeastern.

The Transfer Student Success Center is the initial advising contact for all new Transfer Students!

All new transfer students eligible to register for the upcoming semester will receive an email with a link to request your academic advising appointment. If you have been admitted, but are not sure how to make an appointment, contact the TSSC – we can help!

Once you request your advising appointment through the TSSC, we will connect you with your transfer success advisor.

Prepare for Academic Advising

  • As you prepare for your advising appointment, access the Workday Resource website with your Southeastern Gmail. This site includes helpful tips and instructions to get familiar with Workday, your student portal.
  • Be sure to submit ALL official credits from previous colleges/universities (including military, dual enrollment, and AP/CLEP credits).
  • Review transfer credits in your Workday account to ensure all of your prior coursework is there.

Understanding Your Transfer Credit

  • We will discuss your transfer credits during your transfer advising meeting.
  • Although your credits transfer to Southeastern, each credit may not count toward your specific major.
  • Courses that transfer as elective credit (1XXX, 2XXX, XXXX, etc.) may not count directly toward your degree.
  • It is possible that they can be substituted or applied toward your degree as an elective. Your academic department may ask you to provide a course syllabus from your previous institution for courses like this.
