Communication Sciences and Disorders

 

Charles W. Campbell Award

One award each spring semester. The award amount is determined by the amount of the
trust earnings. Student eligibility requirements: outstanding junior in the CSD Program.

Criteria for selection of recipient: 3.0 GPA or better, outstanding in contributions
to his/her field, and outstanding in his/her relationship with his/her peer group
and the University.

 

Max Clardy Scholarship

One $300 scholarship each fall and spring semester. The scholarship provides financial
assistance for a graduate student in CSD. Student must have a 3.0 GPA, be classified
as full-time, and of good moral character.

 

Fritz “Tootsie” Darouse Endowed Scholarship

Student must be a full-time UG major in CSD with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
The student must demonstrate financial need and be of good moral character. Student
must be full time (12 hrs. UG; 9 hrs. GR) and may keep this scholarship for eight
semesters provided he/she meets all of the above criteria and maintains a 2.5 GPA.

 

Robert E. LaRue Endowed Scholarship

Student must be a full-time major in CSD with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. The
student must demonstrate financial need and be of good moral character. Student must
be full time (12 hrs. UG; 9 hrs. GR) and may keep this scholarship for eight semesters
provided he/she meets all of the above criteria and maintains a 2.5 GPA.

 

Scottish Rite Foundation Scholarship

The scholarship is funded by the Louisiana Scottish Rite Foundation and awarded as
follows: two student recipients will receive $1,250 each for the fall and spring semesters
and $500 each for the summer semester. Criteria for selection: financial need, graduate
student preferred, student must be completing their clinic assignments at the campus
facility, UG student GPA 2.5/GR student GPA 3.0, and the student must be of good moral
character. The student may keep this scholarship for a maximum of three semesters
provided he or she meets all of the above criteria.

Family and Consumer Sciences

 

Laurie Ann Bennett Burns Endowed Scholarship

Recipient must be majoring in Family & Consumer Sciences, have a maximum overall college
GPA of 2.5, have financial need, and be of good moral character.  Student is awarded
scholarship only once to fund out-of-state field study experience.

 

Ginger Fortenberry Ford, Homemaker Scholarship

Recipient must be majoring in Family & Consumer Sciences with priority given to a
student choosing the concentration area of Vocational Family and Consumer Sciences
Education.  The scholarship is provided through a bequest from Judge Leon Ford, III
and his family in memory of his wife.  The award will go to a beginning freshman on
the basis of economic need, U.S. citizen and Louisiana or Mississippi resident, GPA
of 2.5 or higher, participation in high school activities, good character, no record
of disciplinary problems and the student must be eligible for admission to SLU.  Application
for the scholarship must be submitted to the Family and Consumer Sciences faculty
through the applicant’s high school principal by April 1.

 

Virginia L. Langston Endowed Scholarship

Recipient must be a full-time student who is majoring, or planning to major, in Family
and Consumer Sciences.  Must have a minimum 3.0 college GPA or 3.0 high school GPA. 
Must be a resident of Louisiana and a U.S. citizen.

 

Carolyn Furca Kleinpeter Endowed Scholarship

Recipient must be majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in
nutrition and have a minimum 2.5 college GPA.  Must have financial need and be of
good moral character.  Preference will be given to a Hammond High School, Amite High
School or Tangipahoa Parish High School Student, respectively.

 

Myra C. Lillard Scholarship

The scholarship is provided through a bequest from Mr. Purser Lillard, in memory of
his wife.  Student eligibility requirements:  Award 1: Junior Standing with a major
in  Family and Consumer Sciences with highest grade point average.  Award 2: Junior
Standing with a major in Family and Consumer Sciences with second highest grade point
average.  Award 3: Sophomore Standing with a major in Family and Consumer Sciences
with highest grade point average.  In addition to the academic requirements, recipients
must not be on disciplinary probation.  No applications are necessary as awards are
based on grade point average.  Recipients are selected in accordance with the eligibility
criteria.

Social Work

 

Susan McQuay Spiller Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Recipient must be enrolled full-time, majoring in Social Work with a minimum 2.75
high school GPA or a minimum 3.0 college GPA.  Student must be a non-traditional student
(25 years or older), and be actively engaged in SLU’s service learning program.  Special
consideration will be given to students who participate in university or community
programs that serve people who are disadvantaged.
