Marketing Degree Programs

The overall educational objectives of the Marketing undergraduate degree program is
to provide students with a conceptual foundation in Marketing and a skill base necessary
to build successful careers in industry or to succeed in graduate school.

 

Careers in the Program

A major in Marketing prepares students for careers in sales, advertising, marketing
research, public relations, purchasing, transportation, and several other related
areas. Some occupations may require advanced graduate or professional degrees.

Concentrations and Curriculum Sheets

Marketing majors may choose between three curriculum concentrations that lead to the
Bachelor of Arts degree. The department offers concentrations in General Marketing,
Advertising and Social Media Marketing Communications, and Professional Sales. Curriculum

Faculty Teaching Awards and Research

Marketing faculty are recognized for their pursuit of excellence in teaching and research.
Dr. Teri Root is a recent recipient of Southeastern Louisiana University’s Presidential
Award for Excellence in Teaching and Dr. Sandra McKay and Dr. Mike Budden have been
awarded the Mayfield Distinguished Professorship in Marketing for excellence in research.

 Department faculty maintain close ties with industry and employ present-day case
tools to emphasize practical learning. Past projects include: an advertising campaign,
logo, and slogan for the Southeastern Channel and several student research projects
for Nielson Media Research.
