Corie Downing, MSN, FNP, is an Instructor of Nursing at Southeastern Louisiana University. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Southern University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University.
Prior to her academic appointment, Mrs. Downing worked at North Oaks Medical Center for twelve years, ten of which were in Critical Care. Following the completion of her master’s degree, she practiced as an Infectious Disease Nurse Practitioner for two years.
At Southeastern Louisiana University, Mrs. Downing’s primary teaching responsibilities include medical-surgical nursing clinicals and skills lab. Her teaching emphasizes the integration of clinical knowledge, and critical thinking in patient care.
Mrs. Downing’s professional expertise includes nursing education, critical care, functional medicine, and women’s health. She is a licensed provider in the state of Louisiana, with a current clinical practice focusing on hormone replacement therapy, weight management, and aesthetic medicine.
