School of Nursing

Southeastern’s School of Nursing is recognized as a leader in the preparation of nurses. We offer undergraduate (BSN) and graduate degrees (MSN) , including a doctor of nursing practice (DNP) degree program.

At the undergraduate level, we offer a traditional degree program, an accelerated option for students with a prior bachelor’s degree, an LPN to RN, and RN to BSN options. Specialty concentrations are available for advanced practice at the master’s level, as well as preparation at the highest level of nursing practice with the DNP.

Awarded in 2023, Southeastern Louisiana University School of Nursing’s Louisiana Digital Health Institute (LDHI) and Louisiana Education Advancement Program (L.E.A.P.) for Nurses programs successfully operated across a three-year grant period funded by the U.S. Department of Labor. The LDHI program was 100% funded through a $1,499,902.00 award, while the L.E.A.P. for Nurses program was 100% funded through a $1,499,893.00 award. The baseline, infrastructure, and outcomes achieved during this 2023–2026 initiative serve as the foundation for our newest grant-funded programs.

Building directly upon these successes, the School of Nursing is launching its newest initiative, NURSE UP (Building a Model for Nursing Success – Every Student Every Step Undergraduate Program), funded by the Louisiana Department of Health through a 2-year, $3,947,658.00 award spanning July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2028. Designed to address Louisiana’s critical nursing shortage across Livingston, Tangipahoa, St. Tammany, Washington, East Baton Rouge, Ascension, and St. Helena Parishes, this project expands dual-campus capacity by over 50%, introducing new traditional and accelerated nursing student seats. By combining multi-tiered academic coaching, early-alert tracking, and mandatory readiness programs with expanded clinical placements alongside regional partners North Oaks Health System, St. Tammany Health System, and Ochsner Medical Center, NURSE UP carries our workforce advancement mission forward into its next phase of impact.
