Department of World Languages and CulturesDanielle Perez de Corcho is the Interim Director of the English as a Second Language (ESL) Program in the Department of English and World Languages. She has a Master of Arts degree from Tulane University in Latin American Studies and a certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), earned in Alexandria, Egypt. She teaches ESL courses for international students, from basic to advanced levels, focusing on grammar, vocabulary, writing, speaking, and listening. Ms. Perez de Corcho also works with students of Southeastern’s TESOL certificate program, overseeing their teaching internships in the ESL lab and coordinating study abroad programs that take TESOL students to teach English abroad during the summer term.
Second Language Acquisition, Community Interpreting and Translation, and Language Access Policy. Ms. Perez de Corcho is a trained community interpreter for Spanish-English and has co-facilitated interpreter training workshops for bilingual teachers organized by the Louisiana Department of Education and by the Orleans Parish School Board. She is also a campus advisor for the Critical Language Scholarship program from the U.S. Department of State.
