David Bowes, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Economics at Southeastern Louisiana University, where he teaches Money and Banking as well as electives in Urban Economics and Environmental Economics. A native of New Orleans, he earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University in 1999, with a focus on urban and environmental economics. He also holds an M.B.A. from Tulane University and a B.A. in Economics from Trinity University.
Dr. Bowes’s research explores urban policy, transportation, crime, economics pedagogy, and financial market volatility. His work has been published in the Journal of Urban Economics, and he has received a research grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Prior to joining academia full-time, he worked as a research consultant in regional economic development.
Dr. David Bowes' area of expertise includes Urban Economics, Environmental Economics. Research includes empirical analysis of urban and environmental issues, economics pedagogy, and impacts of public policy uncertainty on financial market volatility. .
