Heidi Dubreuil holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Nursing Education, where she specialized in medical-surgical teaching. She has been teaching in this field for five years, bringing both her extensive clinical experience and her passion for nursing education into the classroom.
With 18 years of clinical experience in labor and delivery, Mrs. Dubreuil has developed a deep expertise in maternal-newborn care. Additionally, she has served as a childbirth educator for 7 years and is a certified Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE). She is also a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), which reflects her commitment to high standards of education and student success.
As the course coordinator of NLAB 3820, Mrs. Dubreuil is responsible for guiding students through their medical-surgical nursing courses, where she fosters an environment that emphasizes both theory and hands-on learning. She is an active member of professional organizations, including the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), the American Nurses Association (ANA), and Lamaze International.
In recognition of her dedication to teaching, Mrs. Dubreuil was nominated for the Ochsner Instructor of the Year Award in 2025. Her teaching philosophy revolves around empowering students to excel in their clinical practice and become compassionate, evidence-based nurses.
