Dr. Jennifer Mouledous is an opera director, vocal coach, and professor of voice and diction with more than 30 years of experience in the opera world. She currently serves on the faculty of Southeastern Louisiana University, where she teaches applied voice, diction, and opera workshops. Her teaching emphasizes vocal technique, dramatic interpretation, and performance practice, blending artistry with a deep understanding of vocal pedagogy.
Dr. Mouledous earned her Bachelor of Music in Performance from The University of Southern Mississippi, her Master of Music in Opera Performance from the University of Maryland’s Maryland Opera Studio, and her Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from The University of Mobile. Her doctoral dissertation, A Pedagogical Guide to Alignment and Breathing for a Voice Student with Orthopedic Physical Trauma, reflects her holistic approach to vocal training, incorporating breath, alignment, and body awareness into her teaching.
Dr. Mouledous has built a wide-ranging operatic career. Her notable stage roles include Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro—praised by The Washington Post—Magda in The Consul, Papagena in The Magic Flute, and the title role in Suor Angelica.
Dr. Mouledous is also an accomplished director, having led productions ranging from Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Rossini’s La Cambiale di Matrimonio to musicals such as Grease and Guys and Dolls. Her directing credits span professional companies, community organizations, and educational institutions, allowing her to mentor singers in both classical and musical theater repertoire.
Her students have gone on to receive top honors in national and regional competitions, perform with professional opera companies, and gain admission to prestigious graduate programs including Yale, Juilliard, Rice, the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and Eastman. She has presented workshops and masterclasses across the United States and in Europe, sharing her passion for vocal excellence with singers at all stages of development.
Dr. Mouledous is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the American Guild of Musical Artists. In addition to her academic and performance work, she is a dedicated yoga practitioner, integrating mindfulness, alignment, and breath into her teaching and performance philosophy.
