Kristen N. Morgan is a Professor of Kinesiology at Southeastern Louisiana University with a Ph.D. in Kinesiology from The University of Southern Mississippi. Her doctoral dissertation focused on how physical education teachers adapt their instructional methods to teach motor skills to children with language disorders. She also holds an M.S. in Kinesiology from Mississippi State University and a B.S. in Kinesiology from the College of Charleston.
Dr. Morgan teaches courses, coordinates the Adapted Physical Education program, and mentors graduate assistants. From 2017 to 2019, she worked as a physical education teacher at The DuBard School for Language Disorders, developing adapted lesson plans for students with speech and language disorders.
Her professional work includes a range of publications and presentations, with a focus on adapted physical education and instructional strategies for individuals with disabilities. She has secured grant funding for research on the standardization of the Competency Test for Adapted Physical Education and promoting disability education in higher education. Dr. Morgan is an editorial board member for the Journal of Health & Physical Literacy and has held several leadership roles within the professional organizations. In 2024, she received the Taylor Dodson Young Professional Award from the National Academy of Health and Physical Literacy.
