Dr. Mary Wesley is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Southeastern Louisiana University, where she teaches across undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs. She serves as course coordinator for NURS4820 and NURS6000, contributing to the curriculum design, course development, and program evaluation to align with CCNE standards and best practices. She is actively engaged in university service through committee work including the Graduate Faculty committee, Evaluation Oversight committee, and Chair of the President’s Excellence Awards committee.
Dr. Wesley earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice with a subspecialty in Palliative Care from the University of South Alabama, Post-Master’s Certificate (Family Nurse Practitioner) from the University of Kentucky, Master of Science in Nursing from University of Southern Mississippi, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University. In addition, she holds a Master of Legal Sciences in Healthcare Law from the University of Oklahoma, reflecting her commitment to integrating clinical practice, education and health policy.
Clinically, Dr. Wesley has over 25 years of nursing experience and over 15 years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her professional background spans family practice, urgent care, palliative care and hospice, oncology and clinical leadership.
In addition to her teaching and clinical work, Dr. Wesley has contributed to nursing scholarship through journal publications and serving as an author and editor for Mosby/Elsevier Publishing, developing and revising evidence-based clinical skill modules. Her research and academic interests include palliative and end of life care, community and population health, nurse practitioner education, and health care law and ethics.
